Product development

Two products under development

  • GeneAbacus – beta testing

  • GeneAbacus HT – proof-of-concept

At Countagen, we aim to develop tools for gene editing analysis that ensure a swift and confident move from gene edit to functional analysis.

Our objective is to provide analytical solutions to identify intended edits, precisely quantify efficiency of CRISPR-based editing experiments and, ultimately, isolate the desired clone or organism or decide upon an editing strategy. These solutions should be readily incorporated into laboratory workflows, use standard laboratory equipment and provide results within the working day.

Today, there are two products in development, GeneAbacus and GeneAbacus HT, both based upon Countagen’s patent-pending technology.

GeneAbacus – for up to 48 reactions

This made-to-order GeneAbacus kit has reached the beta-testing phase and aims to provide quantified, actionable data for researchers that wish to analyze a small number of individual samples within the working day.

Countagen welcomes valuable feedback from researchers. If you have suitable samples and would be interested in playing a key role in product development, please fill in the form below. A Countagen scientist will contact you as soon as possible for further discussion.

GeneAbacus in detail

CRISPR-based editing techniques and precise determination of editing efficiencies. The kit contains sufficient reagents to quantify editing efficiencies of an initial edit followed by identification of the final isolated clone(s) or organism into which a desired mutation(s) has been introduced. Flexible methodology enables analysis of multiple samples per day under the same conditions, regardless of origin or sequence characteristics.

    Each GeneAbacus kit contains:

    • Made-to-order probes
    • Enzymes
    • Buffers
    • Imaging chip
    • Access to a downloadable tool for automated image analysis- GeneAbacus Image Analyzer (GAIA)
    Reagent box, Countagen

GeneAbacus HT – for 96-well plates

GeneAbacus HT development has begun with the aim of providing a gene editing analysis solution in laboratories that have a need for higher throughput. The final workflow will use a multi-well plate format with either manual or robotic pipetting options.

Countagen hopes to initiate collaborations with researchers that are interested in the identification of gene edits in 96 well format. If you would like to be part of the co-development team, please contact us for further discussion.
